No liquid smoke here! When you make your own BBQ sauce at home you know exactly what’s in it and it tastes delicious! For those wanting less heat cut down on the cayenne and jalepenos. Hope you enjoy!
Ingredients:
1/4 cup oil
1 large onion, chopped
4-6 jalapeno peppers, stemmed and chopped (do not remove seeds)
1 tablespoon PSC smoked salt
1 tablespoon dry mustard powder
1/2 tablespoon black pepper fine ground
1/2 tablespoon black pepper coarse ground
1/2 tablespoon cayenne pepper
1 teaspoon garlic
1/2 cup PSC Whiskey Smoked Sugar
3/4 cup cider vinegar
3 cups ketchup
1/2 cup molasses
1/2 cup Worcestershire sauce
1 cup water
Directions:
Heat oil in a large saucepan over medium heat. Add onions and jalapenos and cook over medium heat until onions are soft and transparent, about 5 minutes. Add smoked salt, dry mustard, fine black pepper, cayenne, and garlic. Stir to combine and then mix in the Whiskey Smoked Sugar. Add the cider vinegar, ketchup, molasses, Worcestershire, and water and whisk all together until thoroughly combined. Reduce heat to low and simmer for about 30 minutes, whisking every few minutes to prevent sauce from burning and sticking to bottom. Strain sauce to remove onions and jalapenos. Add coarse black pepper. Enjoy.
